“The last one turns off the lights” was a popular saying in the declining GDR and reflected the growing wave of emigration at the time. At the same time, the number of demonstrators increased. The first one turns on the lights captured the energy of this protest. On the Georgiring it was important to be loud, as Ritschel and Ruffert transformed the volume of the passing Leipzig Festival of Lights visitors into energy and colours using acoustic cameras. The people passing by controlled the projection by shouting, clapping or even singing.
