All venues for the Leipzig Festival of Lights 2026 are located within Leipzig’s inner ring road. The best way to reach the Festival of Lights is by public transport, by bicycle or on foot.
Those travelling by tram can use any stop along the inner ring road to reach the Festival of Lights. Those arriving by urban rail are best advised to alight at Markt. Those travelling by train can get off at Leipzig Central Station and walk from there towards the city centre, or take the urban rail to Markt. Additional bicycle parking spaces are available at the entrance to Grimmaische Straße.
Public transport will operate according to the timetable, with minor exceptions. Bus route 89 will not serve the city centre at any time on 9 October and will be diverted via Goerdelerring towards the Central Station, and via Augustusplatz and Wilhelm-Leuschner-Platz towards Connewitzer Kreuz. Multi-storey car parks and parking facilities in Leipzig city centre:
The following restrictions apply to these parking facilities on 9 October 2026:
Between 18:00 and 00:00 on 9 October, entry to the City car park, Große Fleischergasse 2 will not be possible. The exit will be diverted via Brühl.
There are NO restrictions for the following multi-storey car parks and car parks in the city centre:
Q-Park Augustusplatz, Q-Park Marktgalerie, Burgplatz underground car park, Petersbogen underground car park, Martin-Luther-Ring multi-storey car park, Reichsstraße-Deutrichshof car park, Q-Park am Museumswinkel, Q-Park Forum am Brühl, Leipzig Oelssners Hof multi-storey car park, Neumarkt multi-storey car park
Due to road closures, parking on the following streets is not possible:
Dittrichring (section between Thomaskirchhof and Kleine Fleischergasse), Große Fleischergasse 11–23
For those arriving by car, the city recommends using the Park & Ride car parks at Leipzig Trade Fair, the Monument to the Battle of the Nations, Lausen, Plovdiver Straße and Schönauer Ring, as well as the car parks at the Sportforum.
