Awakening Leipzig – 20 years of the Peaceful Revolution and European Unity
The Leipzig Festival of Lights 2009 involved architects, lighting designers, designers and artists from various European countries. The participants experienced a carefully crafted artistic engagement with the 9ᵗʰ of October. Around 20 creatives contributed interpretations on the theme "Peaceful Revolution" using the media of light, audio and video. Musically, the Festival of Lights was accompanied by the Bach Choir Leipzig, a project choir of international choral singers, renowned soloists and the festival orchestra under the direction of St Nicolas Church cantor Jürgen Wolf.
