Workshop at Festival of Lights partner DHL Hub Leipzig (11-13 July 2023)
From 11 to 13 July 2023, DHL and LTM invited people to place thoughts and statements on the theme of freedom on umbrellas. This resulted in numerous messages of freedom – not only in German and English, but also in Spanish, Greek, Polish, Portuguese and Italian, among others. The designed umbrellas were used as part of the Leipzig Festival of Lights on the 9ᵗʰ of October 2023 for the installation that could be seen on Richard-Wagner-Platz.
Festival of Lights meets City Festival (3–4 June 2023)
The 2023 Leipzig Festival of Lights already offered an opportunity to get actively involved during the city festival. Many Leipzig residents made use of this opportunity. On 3 June, it was time to pick up a needle. In cooperation with the association Restlos, banners featuring slogans from the autumn of ’89 were created, becoming part of the Leipzig Festival of Lights project on Richard-Wagner-Platz. Sustainable thanks to upcycling!
On 4 June 2023, numerous city festival visitors stepped in front of the camera of Philipp Geist. The Berlin-based artist used the photographs as part of his project at Burgplatz – a large-scale projection onto the New Town Hall and Stadthaus.
