Leipzig celebrates 20 years of German Unity
On the 9ᵗʰ of October 2010, the Leipzig Festival of Lights invited visitors to join in remembrance and active participation. To mark the 20ᵗʰ anniversary of German Unity, an art and civic project by Leipzig Tourismus und Marketing GmbH (LTM), the City of Leipzig and the Initiative Herbst '89 took place on Augustusplatz. The concept brought together various projects into a unified dramaturgy: on the 9ᵗʰ of October, sound and music elements formed a harmonious connection with light effects and the illuminated “89”.
