Katja Heitmann collects and preserves ‘human movement’. More than 2,500 people have already donated their personal movements. In PERPETUUM, visitors to the Leipzig Festival of Lights now encounter ‘movement donors’ who took part in a workshop in Leipzig. On the 9ᵗʰ of October, they will appear on a monumental scale. Visitors come face to face with them and hear the stories behind their movements. In a sea of light, their own movements also become visible. The project workshop brought together people from a wide range of backgrounds across the city. The participants reflected Leipzig’s diversity: employees from companies such as DHL contributed with the same dedication as students from Leipzig schools – including the Werkstufenzentrum Mahlmannstraße – and participants in various courses at VILLA.

PERPETUUM received the ILO Award in 2025.
