At first glance, the installation FREEDOM? appeared like a random arrangement of light streaks in the space: a delicate, three-dimensional illuminated Mikado. In fact, FREEDOM? was a so-called anamorphosis, in which an image could only be recognised from a very specific angle. Only from the correct line of sight did the profound question of FREEDOM? emerge.
In this way, the installation symbolised the fragility of all the movable parts that had to come together for freedom to be born in one night and in one place. The question mark, however, formed a bridge to the present: freedom was not a permanent state but had to be continually re-established and questioned. The installation consisted of LED steles placed freely within the space.
