Crowd digitally recreated the demonstrations of 1989 – however, with the people who visited the Leipzig Festival of Lights 35 years later. This resulted in a moving projection with polychrome silhouettes of walking people. All the colours of the rainbow were used. They symbolised the inclusion of all people, no one was excluded. The moving image of the demonstration was not a film sequence that was played back, but a currently generated image that constantly changed: visitors to the Leipzig Festival of Lights walked over a treadmill – the recording of the walking person was extracted by the computer into a moving silhouette. The most recently recorded silhouettes were used to create a crowd.
