The second of six light spaces on the way to the Leipzig Festival of Lights opened on 9 September at St Nicolas Church Yard. The event began at 8 pm, and admission was free.
Many different groups shaped the autumn ’89. At the prayers for peace in St Nicolas Church, not only church groups were active, but also many others who hoped for change. Representing the diversity of these voices were eleven trombone choirs from Leipzig and the surrounding area and their musical themes: from a blessing hymn to the European anthem, to an Israeli peace song and pop songs that ultimately merged into a powerful togetherness. The musical programme was directed by University Music Director David Timm and State Trombone Warden Jörg-Michael Schlegel.
