Counting sheep

Project by the twin city of Brno

Performative light and video installation
-----------------------------------------

on Dittrichring, from Otto-Schill-Straße to Alter Amtshof

**Project by the twin city of Brno, JAMU Janáček Academy of Performing Arts, Brno**

The performance *Counting sheep*, exploring the archetypal roles of sheep and wolf, took a critical view of the world and asked what has changed since the Peaceful Revolution. What has remained the same? What is missing? Is it the desire to belong, the striving for security, or is it uncertainty, manipulation and power? All animals are equal, but some animals are more equal than others. We are not sheep!? *Counting sheep* was a live performance with projection and sound that used various theatrical means to create a constantly changing image. Live video mapping onto performers wearing masks and costumes complemented the project, as did interaction with visitors to the Leipzig Festival of Lights.

Brno has been Leipzig’s twin city since 1973.

- Twin city BrnoLeipzig and Brno enjoy a dynamic city partnership which, since the partnership agreement was renewed in 1999, has been characterised by strong ties and intensive exchange. What is particularly remarkable about this connection is the many similarities between the two cities and the continuous deepening of their relations. Since the city partnership began in 1973, this active cooperation has been reflected in regular visits by staff from the city administrations, contacts between citizens, and intensive exchange in the fields of culture, social affairs and sport.
