Interactive Projection
----------------------

at Propsteikirche, Martin-Luther-Ring

*Crowd* digitally recreated the demonstrations of 1989 – however, with the people who visited the Leipzig Festival of Lights 35 years later. This resulted in a moving projection with polychrome silhouettes of walking people. All the colours of the rainbow were used. They symbolised the inclusion of all people, no one was excluded. The moving image of the demonstration was not a film sequence that was played back, but a currently generated image that constantly changed: visitors to the Leipzig Festival of Lights walked over a treadmill – the recording of the walking person was extracted by the computer into a moving silhouette. The most recently recorded silhouettes were used to create a *crowd*.

----------------------------

Simone van Dam und Alex Prooper

**AlexP** – that is **Alex Prooper** (1963, Netherlands) and **Simone van Dam** (1973, Netherlands). **Alex** studied physics, but entered the software industry more than 35 years ago and has since been working as a digital media artist. He began as a designer and developer for software and operating systems. Later, he increasingly focused on creating art with his self‑developed software, and has now been working as a full-time artist for over ten years. **Simone** studied at the Academy of Visual Arts in Amsterdam and has been working with Alex for fifteen years. AlexP present their works at festivals, art exhibitions, in galleries and museums. The artists have created works for various companies such as Shell, Unilever and KPN. In recent years, their projects have been shown at, among others, Light City Baltimore (USA), the Amsterdam Light Festival, the Amsterdam Dance Event, City of Light (Jyväskylä, Finland), Essen Light Festival (Germany), Prisma ART LIGHT TECH (Aveiro, Portugal) and the Kröller-Müller Museum (NL). The art of AlexP is always technical, but often based on or derived from natural phenomena. The two artists explore systems as well as the patterns and behaviours that emerge from these systems. They often involve the viewer in the system of the artwork, making it interactive.
